Hey friend,
What if saving money felt like a game you actually wanted to win?
Let's be honest -budgeting doesn't exactly have a reputation for being a good time.
But what if it could be?
Here's the truth: the people who build wealth consistently aren't always the ones with the most discipline. They're the ones who made it stick, and fun is one of the most underrated tools for making anything stick.
So this week, I'm handing you five games you can start playing right now. No app required. No finance degree needed. Just a little friendly competition, even if it's just with yourself.

β
π― Game 1: The $5 Bill Rule
Every time a $5 bill lands in your wallet, it goes straight to savings. No exceptions, no negotiations. It's not a big bill, so it doesn't feel like a sacrifice, but those fives add up fast. Some people save over $1,000 a year just from this one rule.
Bonus round: Play with your spouse and see who can collect the most fives in a month.β
β
π‘οΈ Game 2: The Weather Challenge
Check the temperature each morning. Whatever the high is that day that's how many cents (or dollars if you really want to push yourself) you save. 74 degrees? Save 74 cents. Sounds tiny, right? Over a full year in Tennessee, you're looking at $200+ without breaking a sweat.
It sounds ridiculous. It works anyway.

β
π Game 3: Savings Bingo
Create a simple bingo card with saving challenges in each square:
- Packed lunch instead of eating out βοΈ
- Skipped the coffee shop βοΈ
- Found a free activity for the family βοΈ
- Sold something you no longer use βοΈ
Every time you complete a square, mark it off. Get a bingo and treat yourself to something free or low-cost. Fill the card to celebrate big.
Make one for the kids too. They'll beg to play.

β
π Game 4: The 52-Week Sprint
Week 1: Save $1. Week 2: Save $2. Week 3: Save $3. Keep going.
By the end of the year, you'll have $1,378 sitting in savings, and the amounts only feel hard for a few weeks at the end. If starting small feels too slow, flip it and start at $52 and work your way down.
Pick your direction. Just start.

β
π Game 5: The Pantry Challenge
Pick one week per month where you don't grocery shop you cook only from what's already in your fridge, freezer, and pantry. Whatever you would have spent at the store? Transfer it directly to savings.
Most families save $100β$200 in a single week. And you'll rediscover that bag of quinoa you definitely forgot you bought.
Creativity counts. Leftovers count. Frozen mystery meals count.

"The goal isn't to be perfect with money. The goal is to make progress feel possible -even enjoyable."
"A joyful heart is good medicine." Proverbs 17:22
Saving doesn't have to feel like punishment. Sometimes the best financial strategy is the one that makes you smile while you do it.
Pick one game. Start this week. Tell me which one you chose I'd love to cheer you on.
