What If the Answer Isn't Cutting Back? πŸ’°

Pursuing true North

Hey friend,

We all know the golden rule of personal finance: spend less than you make. That's the unemotional, math-y part. No feelings, just facts.

But here's the thing. When you've got debt working against your net worth, or a savings goal you really want to hit, sometimes the fastest path forward isn't just cutting back. Sometimes you need to bring in a little more cash on the side.

Not forever. Just for a season. A focused, intentional sprint to get you to the goal.

So here are 5 ways to do exactly that:

1. Sell the stuff collecting dust. Walk through your house like a stranger. What would you buy at a garage sale? Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and local buy/sell groups are goldmines. One person's clutter is another person's treasure, and your old treadmill could be someone's motivation and your debt payoff fuel.

2. Offer a skill you already have. Can you write, design, tutor, do hair, take photos, organize closets, or fix things? Someone near you needs that. Nextdoor, Facebook groups, and even word of mouth go a long way. You don't need a business plan, just a willingness to say "hey, I can help with that."

3. Pick up a temporary part-time gig. Retail, restaurants, and seasonal employers are almost always hiring. It doesn't have to be glamorous. It just has to be temporary and purposeful. Put every dollar straight toward the goal so you can see the finish line getting closer.

4. Rent something you own. A parking spot, a storage space, a camper, a camera, even a room. Apps like Neighbor, RVshare, and Airbnb make it easier than ever to let your stuff work for you while you sleep.

5. Leverage what you already do. Are you a teacher? Tutor. A chef at home? Meal prep for a neighbor. A project manager at work? Offer freelance help to a small business. You've already got the skills. You're just adding a new client for a little while.

The key with all of these? Have a goal and a deadline. "I'm doing this until we pay off the car" hits different than "I guess I'm just always going to hustle now." Give it a finish line and it becomes a lot more doable.

Ready to make a real plan around your money goals?

My 1:1 spots are full right now, but I'm launching a group coaching program in August and I would love to have you in it. It's a chance to work on your finances alongside others who get it, with personalized support from me at a fraction of the 1:1 investment.

Get on the interest list now so you're the first to know when doors open!

[Yes, I want in on the August group!]

Cheering for you,

Jenny

P.S. Even one of these five ideas, done consistently for 60 to 90 days, can move the needle in a big way. You've got this.

P.P.S. Know someone who needs a little financial momentum? Forward this their way. Sharing is caring and sometimes a friend is exactly who needs to hear this.

See you next week!
