The Battle Nobody Talks About (Happy Veterans Day Week!) 🇺🇸

Pursuing true North

Hey friend,

So it's Veterans Day week, and I've been doing that thing where you get a little reflective and nostalgic. You know what I mean?

I've been thinking about my Air Force days—the early mornings, the camaraderie, the structure, the sense of purpose. And honestly? I've been thinking about YOU.

Because here's what I realized: Every time someone thanks me for my service, I'm always humbled and grateful for the people who are so thoughtful. I also think about the battles that people fight after their enlistment ends. I think about the battles of everyday that no one sees.

The battle to keep your head above water when everything costs more than it did last month.

The battle to stay patient with your kids when you're running on fumes.

The battle to open that credit card statement or check your bank account.

These battles? They're REAL. And they take serious courage.

In the military, we had this saying: "Embrace the suck." Basically, it meant—yeah, this is hard and uncomfortable, but we're doing it anyway. We didn't pretend the obstacle course wasn't brutal. We just refused to quit.

And listen, I see that same determination in you. You're still showing up. Still trying. Still pushing forward even when it feels like you're stuck.

That's what a warrior does.

Here's what those military years taught me that I use in my own life (and with my clients) every single day:

You've gotta know your "why." In the service, we always knew our mission. It kept us going when we wanted to give up. Your "why" might be your kids getting a better life than you had. It might be finally feeling peaceful about money instead of anxious. It might be proving to yourself that you CAN do hard things. Whatever it is—write it down, stick it on your mirror, and look at it when things get tough.

Small wins are still wins. We didn't go from basic training to leading missions overnight. It was one pushup, one skill, one day at a time. Paid off a $50 debt? VICTORY. Said no to that impulse purchase? PROGRESS. Showed up for yourself today? You're winning. Don't you dare dismiss those small steps—they're building something big.

Nobody does it alone. The strongest people I knew in the military? They asked for help. They had a team. They knew that trying to carry everything yourself is how you break. And friend, the same is true for you.

So here's what I want to say this Veterans Day week:

I see you. I see your service—to your family, to your future, to that dream you're still holding onto even when it feels impossible.

You're not a quitter. You're a fighter. And fighters? We don't have to fight alone.

This week, I challenge you to pick ONE thing. Not everything—just one. Maybe it's finally looking at that debt. Maybe it's asking for help. Maybe it's giving yourself permission to believe things can actually get better.

Pick it. Do it. And know that I'm cheering you on every step of the way.

You've got this. And you've got me in your corner.

Always,

Jenny 💙

P.S. To my fellow veterans—thank you for your service, and I'm so proud to have served alongside you. And to everyone reading this—thank you for YOUR service too. The world needs your strength. 🇺🇸
