Progress Over Perfection: When Your Goals Need a Tweak 💪

Pursuing true North

Hey friend,

Quick question: Are you a "dive right into the pool" person or a "dip your toes in first" person?

I can be a dive-right-in person with EVERYTHING. Including my goals.

When my husband and I first got serious about paying off debt, we said, "No going out. At all. We're staying home and throwing every dollar at this debt."

Sounds super committed, right?

Yeah, well, after a few weeks we realized something: If we were going to still have a marriage at the end of this debt payoff journey, we needed some time out alone for date night.

We were stressed. We were snippy with each other. We weren't connecting.

So we adjusted.

We set an amount in an envelope in cash every month for date nights and stuck to it. Did it take a tiny bit off what we were paying toward debt? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

We were so much better off for it. Our marriage was better. We had something to look forward to. And we STILL crushed our debt.

That's what sustainable progress looks like.

You Haven't Failed—Your Goal Just Needs a Tweak

We're in the first week of February now, and I'm willing to bet some of you are already feeling like you've "failed" at your New Year's resolutions.

Maybe you swore off eating out completely and you've already hit the drive-thru.

Maybe you said you'd save $500 a month and you've only saved $50.

Maybe you created this super strict budget and you've already blown through it.

Stop right there. You haven't failed. Your goal was just too extreme.

What Can YOU Adjust?

Here's the thing: The people who actually WIN with money aren't the ones who go the hardest. They're the ones who find a pace they can sustain and then KEEP GOING.

So let's adjust:

Instead of cutting out coffee completely… cut back to three times a week instead of every day.

Instead of never eating out… put a number on what you CAN spend each month and stick to it. Maybe it's $100. Maybe it's $200. Whatever works for YOUR life.

Instead of saving $1,000 a month… start with $100. Or $50. Progress is progress.

The goal isn't perfection. The goal is progress.

It's Not Too Late

We're only five weeks into the year. You've got 47 weeks left to make progress.

February is actually the PERFECT time to adjust. The New Year's hype has died down, and you've got real data about what's working and what's not.

So don't give up. Adjust.

Your Turn

What goal did you set that's not working? What do you need to adjust to make it actually sustainable?

Hit reply and tell me. Let's figure out together how to make it work for your REAL life, not some fantasy version of your life.

No judgment. No shame. Just real talk.

You're not failing, friend. You're just figuring out what works.

Keep going. Adjust as needed. And give yourself some grace.

You've got this.

Cheering for you always,

Jenny 💙

P.S. Seriously, what goal needs adjusting? Reply and tell me. I'm here for you! 💪

See you next week!
