Pursuing True North

I Used to Live in the Land of Ambiguity 😎

Pursuing true North

For a long time, I lived in a beautiful little country called the Land of Ambiguity.

Maybe you've been there. The weather's always perfect. The sun is out, the rainbows are doing their thing, and somewhere off in the distance there's a soft, comforting voice whispering, "It'll all work out eventually."

I loved it there. Zero forecasts, zero itineraries, zero adulting required. My finances would just... work out one day. I didn't know how. I didn't know when. I just knew it would happen, because that's how it works in the Land of Ambiguityβ€š everything is fine because you've decided to believe it's fine.

Here's the problem: it was a tourist trap.

While I was busy soaking up the sunshine, nothing was actually happening. No wealth was building. No retirement was forming. No traction was being made anywhere, on anything. I was so committed to living in the β€œnow” that I'd forgotten the now is supposed to be headed somewhere.

Turns out you can't budget with vibes.

So I left. And I built a compass instead.

This is genuinely one of the things I teach my clients mostβ€š and it's not about ditching fun for spreadsheets. You're allowed to enjoy your coffee, your night out, your "treat yourself" moment. I'm not the fun police.

But fun in the β€œnow” needs a β€œlater” to answer to. That's what I call your "true north"β€š the place you're actually trying to get to. Debt-free. Retired with margin. A business that supports your family instead of draining it. Whatever your version is.

The shift isn't dramatic for most people. It's small, repeatable habits pointed in one direction instead of no direction. But it is a behavior shift β€š and depending on the person, that shift can feel like turning a cruise ship. Slow at first. Then suddenly you look up, and you're somewhere completely different.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish." - Proverbs 29:18 (NIV)

You don't need a five-year color-coded plan to leave the Land of Ambiguity. You just need to pick a direction and take one honest step toward it.

Soβ€š where do you want to go?

Not someday. Not eventually. Actually, where?

Cheering for you,
Jenny

P.S. Hit reply and tell me one thing you're actually headed toward. Doesn't have to be polished or perfectly plannedβ€š just real. I read every one, and sometimes just saying it out loud is the first step out of Ambiguity.

P.P.S. Know someone still vacationing in Ambiguity? Forward this along β€š sometimes all it takes is one nudge from a friend.

See you next week!
