Friends,
I've been asked some version of this question for eight years now. Eight. Years.
"Jenny, is it too late for me?" "Jenny, will I ever actually catch up?" "Jenny, everyone else seems so far ahead - what's wrong with me?"
Here's the truth I wish I could hand every single one of you the first time you ask it:
This is not a race.
It's not a competition. Nobody is handing out medals for who paid off debt the fastest or who retired the earliest or who had the "right" amount saved by 30. Your finances are not a leaderboard. They're a journey, and every single one of our "True Norths" points somewhere different.
You can catch up. You can feel in control.
I know that might sound like something printed on a motivational mug. But I've watched it happen - over and over - for eight years.
I think of one client in particular (we'll call her a walking success story, because she is one). When she started with me, she was exhausted. Second-guessing every decision. Running numbers in her head at 2am and coming up with a different scary total every time.
By the end of our work together? Different woman. Confident. Lighter. Genuinely excited to tackle problems instead of avoiding them like a pile of laundry that's somehow multiplying on its own. (We've all been there. The laundry always wins.)
Here's what she told me that I'll never forget: coaching was the best decision she'd ever made, not because I did the work for her (I didn't), but because she wasn't second-guessing herself anymore. She knew exactly what her next step was, and she knew someone was in her corner helping her find the moves that created the most momentum.
She wasn’t alone.
That's the whole job, really. I'm not the one carrying the weight. I'm the one helping you find your footing so you can carry it with confidence and actually enjoy the climb.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." -Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need your next right step, and someone to help you see it clearly.
So, if you've been quietly wondering, "Can I ever actually catch up?" Friend, hear me: yes. Not by comparing your chapter 3 to someone else's chapter 20. But by taking your next step, on your path, at your pace.
Cheering for you,
Jenny
P.S. My next course starts in October - it's self-paced, so you can move through it on your own timeline (no laundry-pile guilt if life gets busy). Sign up here to grab your spot before it kicks off.
Right now, get it half off using code: Fall2026
P.P.S. I also have a couple of 1:1 coaching openings coming available in October. If you'd rather have someone walking step-by-step with you, schedule a quick call and let's see if we're a good fit.
See you next week!
